Longest Xingkai Script Scroll of the Bible
2025年3月24日Cai Heping from Liaoning, China, completed a long scroll of the Bible in Xingkai script.The work measures a total length of 2,602 meters, consisting of 92 volumes, each 28.28 meters long and 33 centimeters wide, with a total word count of 931,689 characters.After being certified by the Forbes World Records Certification,Cai Heping successfully set the world record for the "Longest Xingkai Script Scroll of the Bible".
This handwritten scroll is meticulously inscribed in Xingkai calligraphy, using vertically arranged traditional Chinese characters on semi-processed "Wannianlan" Xuan paper. Throughout the transcription process, Mr. Cai delved deeply into the text of the Bible, integrating it with traditional Chinese calligraphy art. Through this work, he aimed to present this profoundly influential classic in a unique artistic form. He believes that the Bible is not only a great epic but also a literary masterpiece that embodies ideals and humanity, revealing the essence of life.
Since the 1980s, Mr. Cai has been dedicated to the meticulous hand-copying of Chinese and foreign literary classics. Over the past four decades, he has completed over a hundred major works, with a total handwritten character count exceeding 20 million and a cumulative scroll length surpassing 6,000 meters. His works include Dream of the Red Chamber, Water Margin, Journey to the West, and Romance of the Three Kingdoms, as well as Japanese literary masterpieces such as The Tale of Genji and Jin Ping Mei Cihua. Many of his calligraphy works have been collected by cultural institutions and private collectors worldwide.
As a member of the China Hard Pen Calligraphy Association and a director of the Liaoning Calligraphers Association, Mr. Cai enjoys a prestigious reputation in the field of calligraphy. He has been honored as "China's Leading Figure in Hand-Copied Literary Classics" and has received widespread recognition for his artistic achievements.
